Of course we love this because we are in the business of consulting on new construction, but it's also great to see the dynamics of social media at work in the design industry. It's so interesting to see a design trend on the rise on Pinterest and watch the influx of new product, DIY spin-offs, and room designs quickly follow.
We've seen barn doors, open shelving and shiplap like crazy! Great ideas and easy enough to implement in any home. So what's next? I have a little prediction. It's an element that can have a huge impact on a space. Whether you have a lot or just a few, simple changes can create a major wow factor. So get ready, I think we're going to see some big changes in STAIR DESIGN!
From simple to complex, check out these influential designs. There are alot of photos here, I just couldn't narrow it down, but there are 3 things I see trending:

BEFORE
AFTER

Designers love brass stair elements!

Curved and turned stairs get a new twist with flared entry steps, European influence, and a nice mix of metal, wood and stone. No more builder basics here. And you don't need a million dollar home to incorporate some of these ideas. There are plenty of ways to make a big style change with paint or a new runner.
What do you guys think about this? I guess we'll see if Home Depot starts selling different styles of stair balusters to gauge if my prediction is right. :)
